FAQ automated sorting e-commerce
Below you will find the most frequently asked questions on sorting e-comm. Feel free to contact our experts if you have any furthter questions on your situation.
Automated sorting is relevant for companies engaged in e-commerce or e-commerce fulfillment, that process between 1,500 – 28,000 items per hour.
Absolutely. Batch picking means that you pick all individual orders for a specific product at once and then feed them into the sorter. The sorting machine will automatically sort the products to individual orders. This saves time, energy, and manpower (=costs).
Yes, you can—provided the returns have the correct barcode. All sorting solutions supplied by DistriSort are suitable for multi-flow processing, meaning they can handle inbound, outbound, and return flows on a single machine.
DistriSort’s sorting solutions integrate easily with your WMS or WCS systems. This can be done through simple data exchange using .csv files, but also via a full integration with your system. Our in-house software team has already connected with all well-known WMS systems, as well as many custom-built systems.
The data the sorter needs is relatively simple: which barcode (or other identifier) corresponds to which output—this is what we call sorting logic. With this information, we can easily and quickly process all your webshop orders.
When designing the sorting solutions, DistriSort’s experts request extensive data from your operations. This includes examining potential process peaks, for example during seasonal changes or promotions around Valentine’s Day or Black Friday. In many cases, the sorter can easily handle peak loads—and is designed to do so.
It’s important to look together at how the entire system manages peak demand, from picking to transport to the sorter and subsequent processing. Together with our experts, we ensure that you can handle both current and future growth as well as order peaks.
The error rate is negligible; in most cases, it is less than 0.1%, usually caused by a mistake in the barcode. Errors are automatically returned at the infeed. If the barcode is correct, the chance of anything being sorted incorrectly is virtually zero.
Little to none. Any required training is provided by DistriSort after delivery. Even tasks like replacing a carrier are simple enough to be handled by the operators themselves.
